Research a mythos that is not well known in popular culture and write from the perspective of a minor deity within that mythos.

For example, Ibaje, for the Yoruba religion, has limited duties over the River Niger and serves under the goddess Oya. She is considered a minor goddess.

Writing from the perspective of a being that is still powerful, but not that powerful, is a fun exercise in character building.
