Sleep — death’s twin sister stole me away at dawn leaving my breathing stale husk
Sweet Winter smoke fills my lungs bringing me back to California.
Leaves change into spice laced drinks, turtleneck sweaters, lanterns, raincoats, fall.
Hands like a spider’s leg, scurried through my black hair, tracing my blank mind.
Pull your eyelids back listen for the crunch of brow against bone, insert.
Cremated remains of ancient evergreen trees fell like snow on me.
Everyday I dream of strong arms, perfume, heartbeats melting into me.
Still black elixir sugar, root caffinated open up, exhale.
Pavement moans under rubber wheels racing towards temporary stops.
Muscles weaved between tendons, skin, last month’s pizza & cheese cake giggles.
